SPHERE'S WHITE ROOM PARTY PULLS THE CROWDS
Sphere Studios, the brand new recording complex currently under construction in
Battersea, South London, celebrated Christmas with a party hosted by console
manufacturer, Euphonix.
Euphonix chose the venue to showcase its new System 5 digital console, which was
recently launched in the UK. Key producers and music industry personnel were invited
along to demo the desk.
For Sphere, the party provided a perfect opportunity to unveil six White (pre-production)
rooms, the completion of which marks the end of the first phase of Sphere's construction.
Among the guests attending the event were producers Chris Thomas and Geoff Emerick and
Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith with his wife Nathalie.
Sphere director Malcolm Atkin says: "The party was a huge success and we were really
heartened by the support we received from all sectors of the music industry. Sphere
is an ambitious project, but after so long in the doldrums the UK pro audio industry
needed a project of this size to raise spirits and boost morale."
The final stage of the Sphere Studios project will be completed by early Summer, 2001.
This will see the former laundry in Battersea converted into a complex featuring three
main control rooms dedicated to tracklaying, stereo mixing and 5.1 surround mixing.
There will also be extensive ISDN facilities, plenty of parking and a fully licensed bar.
fully equipped, state of the art recording studios.
