Studio 2 and 3 refits

Studio 2 has been extensively remodelled with the original C4 monitoring system replaced by a custom Munro M4 5.1 system, identical to Studio 1. We were lucky enough to get hold of Andy Wallaces SSL 4072G+ from Soundtracks NY, the desk that was responsible for Nevermind and many Guns and Roses mixes, and that's now center stage in Studio 2.
5.1 monitoring is provided via an Audient Monitor box.

Studio 3 was always a comfortable room but the rebuilding of the front wall to incororate soffit mounted half M4's has transformed the room. The bottom end is tight and punchy... you could almost say we have the only pair of soffit mounted mid fields!
Studio 3 also gained from the dollar exchange rate, we picked up the SSL4056 G+ from Hit Factory and installed that at the same time as refitting Studio 2. It did make for an interesting Christmas and New Year but both rooms have been complete and working for a month now with very few minor niggles.

Additions to the recording side of the world are updates to the protools rigs, there are now 3 HD3 rigs, a 48/48 system with 2 accel cards and 2 process cards, a 24/48 system with 2 accel cards and 2 process cards, and a 24/40 system with 2 accel card. Although they are notionally attached to each of studios the rigs are all centrally located in our Central Machine Room and so can be patched with ease to any control room.

Microphones havent been negelected and new additions include 2 Telefunken Elam 251s and 2 long body Telefunken U47s with Ashley Styles "missing link" VF14s. Put up against a pair of pristine, original 47s there is only a small presence lift on the old 47s but it is marginal, the new 47s are slightly quieter than the old, mainly due, I feel, to the better transformers and capacitors of the new units, in terms of charactor they are U47s... put one up and it does exactly what you would expect.
