Sphere Studios - '70's Rock Archive Exhibition

It took 30 years to get the pictures at an exhibition! And the '70's rock archive collection looked at home on the walls of the bar in Sphere Studios, Battersea, for the preview on 13th May 2004.

The music was 'retro' for the evening and the 'vinyl' (what we used to call just 'records') matched the rock legends on the wall - Rod Stewart & The Faces, The Jeff Beck Group, The Who, The Kinks and Rory Gallagher, to name but a few.

"Most amazing - and quite unexpected - was the response by those viewing. I was overwhelmed by the reaction to the photographs" said Debi Doss, the photographer " people came up and said that they found certain pictures were 'iconic' and summed up particular groups (the Plant and Page picture of Led Zeppelin and the Townshend & Daltrey picture of The Who). Others said they were at the same concert themselves (Bowie) - or their mother was!!!!! Some were drawn to particular photographs because the musicians were playing different instruments to those normally seen - Steve Marriot (from Humble Pie) playing harmonica - and one friend even knew that Jimmy Page was playing 'Stairway to Heaven' in the photograph (didn't ask which chord)!"

See the evening for yourself!
